The shocking and possibly true history of

Some Ska Band

Now it can be told!

In the winter of 2011, five musicians met in the basement of an ad agency, brought together by their shared love of ska and the incessant emails of founder and tenor sax man, Charles Benoit. They began with covers of old-school and 90s ska classics, playing any place that would put them on a stage. They started writing and recording originals and, after a few lineup changes, released their debut CD, It’s Going Down, in 2018. Soon the band was playing gigs across the region and opening for bands like The Pietasters, Pilfers and Bim Skala Bim.

Over the years new musicians joined and others moved on, but the band has remained true to its upbeat ska roots. In 2020, Tricia Lynn Gonzalez, lead singer with the legendary 90s band The Miggedys, joined the crew, and in 2021 they played the Supernova International Ska Festival. The band has released two more albums, 2022's Better Together, and in 2023, Every now and then, named a Top Five Album of the Year by the UK's Button Down Radio.

Today Some Ska Band is a tight, 9-piece outfit, keeping busy packing dance floors and recording your new favorite songs.
